History

Since 1975, in a small barn workshop in western Massachusetts, Michael Humphries has produced fine furniture, cabinetry and architectural millwork. As Michael Humphries Woodworking has grown over the years to more sophisticated shops and machinery, we have gained a staff of skilled craftsman with decades of experience. We can work from our designs or yours, to create unique projects on any scale. We build entire rooms of wall cabinets, single pieces of furniture, jewelry boxes and staircases. We strive to mix form and function into a work of art that you, your family, or your company can enjoy and use for a lifetime. Michael Humphries Woodworking goes beyond the obvious.

Michael Humphries
Michael Humphries was born in 1947 in Pennsylvania. He attended Haverford College (BA.'70) and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (M Ed.'72). Upon graduation, with emphasis on the visual arts, he worked in creative video production.

In 1974 he changed his profession and returned to woodworking. Since then he and his employees have maintained a woodworking studio full time in the hills of western Massachusetts. He currently resides in Warwick, Massachusetts.

The primary focus of his work has been to understand the functional needs and design considerations of his clients.
