The Sideboard Table

The substrate for this sideboard table is medium density fiberboard (MDF)
 
 

We've started the project by veneering the edges and bottoms with plain straight-grained mahogany veneer.
 
 

Then, we've selected matched pieces of figured mahogany veneer. These pieces will be trimmed,
oriented as a "four-way bookmatch", and pressed onto the surfaces of the table.
 
 

The veneers have been matched, glued to the substrate and sanded.
 
 

The table then receives a coat or two of sealer (sanded between coats) and then a final coat of
semi-gloss conversion varnish to bring out the depth and beauty of the wood.
